Ice House introduces a new interface for architecture and urbanism
in the Houston landscape. It operates in three significant ways:
in the relationship to program; in the relationship to patronage;
and in the relationship to a recognizable space-time continuum once
embodied in the material and spatial dimensions of the city.
It is sited on Montrose Boulevard, adjacent to a U.S. Highway 59
over-pass, in Houston. Functional elements for the Texas Ice House
include a drive-thru, a lunch counter, a convenience store, a sidewalk
detour, a stock ramp, a beer garden, and a proprietor's flat.
